Official Warning – Bees can be Dangerous …

There are around 20,000 species of Bee in the World, ranging from Bumble Bees, to Honey Bees & Carpenter Bees. 

 

Then there are the African Killer Bees which are no more venomous than the others but as they are really aggressive and tend to attack in large numbers they generally cause more pain than other Bees. 

There are, however, two species of Bee that are so dangerous that continued exposure to them will cause nausea, depression, anger and disappointment; causing the sufferer to become bitter, disillusioned, negative and be really tedious company at parties; symptoms that are usually exaggerated after the ingestion of Alcohol.

Species 1

The “UsedToBee” - From the Order of Hymenoptera and the Family Apidae (or in this case UnApiDae..)

People having been stung by a UsedToBee have a focus on the past. They believe that everything in the past was better, their life was more fulfilled, children weren’t cheeky and music had words that could be understood.

It can be so debilitating that the effects of the venom cause them to change their identity to reflect the past and will even introduce themselves by stating “I UsedToBe….” following with words like Happy, Rich, Pretty, Optimistic, Married, Young…

They may even focus in the Identity they used to have – CEO, Soldier, Nurse, and Manager Etc. and simply know that nothing they will do in the future will be as fulfilling. 

These people live in the past and have decided to abdicate the possibility of a bright future to those with skills and attributes that they couldn’t possibly acquire.

They will have a list of people and situations that they can blame for exposure to the UsedToBee, including parents, partners, banks, social class and gender. This list will be used to protect their fragile egos that otherwise would have to face up to the fact that they basically couldn’t be bothered to take action to achieve anything of significance. 

The UsedToBee is closely related to the CouldABee and the ShouldABee, and these are simply subspecies of the same family.

Species 2

 
The “WannaBee” - From the Order of Hymenoptera and the Family Apidae.

Being stung by the WannaBee is sometimes worse than the UsedToBee. 

People will have absolute clarity about what they want the future to hold for them, and yet they will do absolutely nothing about it. Instead they will have an elegant list of excuses that include being too old, young, cash poor, time restricted or simply not being ready yet.

The WannaBe venom will induce phrases that include being rich, famous, successful and happy. The fact that the words are prefixed with WannaBe simply means that at a subconscious level, they know they have not achieved their goals and because “wanting” is not a powerful enough motivator, they will simply stay that way.

The WannaBee has the paradoxical effect of causing false hope, the misplaced belief that simply wanting something enough will cause it to become manifest without any actual effort. Replacing achievement with false hope means that the process becomes continual and completely addictive. 

The WannaBee is closely related to other species known as Don’tWannaBe, which causes similar symptoms only with a negative focus and the MayBe, which has the effect of continually postponing decisions and actions and eventually leads to debilitating procrastination.

Treatment 

As you can see, both of these species are particularly dangerous. The symptoms, however, are really easy to spot, and when you look for them you will be surprised how many people have actually been affected. Treatment is complex and includes such rare and exotic treatments as;

SMAGOWI Treatment – a concoction of harsh medicine derived from the bitter sap of a rare African Tree, has to be applied rigorously and continuously for a period of 90 Days. Translated means roughly, Stop Moaning And Get On With It.

SBOIYL Vaccine – again hard to take, but effective when injected directly to the bloodstream; is synthesised from the saliva of the left handed Natterjack Toad. May need several applications and can be used with the SMAGOWI medicine if desired. 

Translated means Stop Blaming Others It’s Your Life.

YCAAWYD Pill – (derived from the Welsh for Sugar...) a positive and uplifting, mind altering treatment that is not for the faint hearted. Must be administered by an experienced professional in secure and safe surroundings and works best when applied to small groups at the same time, preferably when lying down.

Translated means YouCanAchieveAnythingWhenYouDecide

Alternatively of course, you can simply decide to get on with your amazing life, live for the moment and create opportunities for yourself and others that will enable you to achieve your goals – become the rarest species of all and BeeAwesome…

What are you Qualified for...?

The Interview...

Before we are born we have to attend an interview, to see if we are actually qualified for the life we are all capable of living…

In the interview we are given two simple choices;

• To live a happy and successful life, achieving whatever we choose.

• To live an unhappy, mundane life full of regret and disappointment.

Those who choose Option 2 are not selected…

Those choosing Option 1, however, go to the next stage and attend the full induction training program that will give them the skills required to fulfil their potential.

The induction training is held in a large well lit white room without windows. All the new inductees sit around a large table and wait for the training to begin….

“You have all passed the only test you will ever need to take, that of making the choice to be happy successful; achieving whatever you choose. The Life you are about to begin has not been lived before, it is brand new and there are no conditions attached to the gift that is about to be bestowed upon you.

You have everything you need; you will be given a body, a personality, freedom of thought, confidence and permission to achieve. The only choice you need to make is how you will do it; and your only responsibility is to achieve your full potential.

When you are born, this training will be your first memory; a memory that will appear as an echo inside your mind reminding you of the obligation and commitment you have made here to the Life you are capable of living – a constant reminder that if you should hesitate or question your ability, you have already qualified for the rewards.

You will collect other memories on your journey, but I would caution you to never allow them to overshadow your memory of this message.

The only physical reminder you will have of this training is known as a Birth Certificate that you will be issued with when you arrive. This is the only certificate you will ever need, it is not “Evidence of Identity” as it will state on the piece of paper – it is, however, physical evidence of the test you have taken and the permission you have been granted to live the life you have chosen. 

But beware, there are a few that slip through, some who have chosen Option 2 actually find a way to be born and live amongst you, they look the same as you, but they are not. 

They may even conceal themselves a friends or members of your family, they may get into positions of power and influence; they have a Birth Certificate, but it is a forgery. They will attempt to conspire against you on your journey, and sabotage your progress. In their minds, you being excellent somehow make them less; beware of these false prophets, and neither consort with or support them.

Instead, look for the excellent, the people who have gone before you and both kept and fulfilled their promise; seek them out and learn from them, some of them will leave messages for you in books, read them and let them be your guides.

You are children of the universe, with the right and responsibility to be happy and successful, we look forward to seeing what you achieve ...”

With that, the lights begin to fade and a new set of experiences and memories begin to fill their minds - for them, life has begun...

So that fact that you are here, means you have already passed the test, not everyone makes it this far. You have a Birth Certificate, the only certificate you ever need, and you have already chosen to be happy and successful. You have both the permission, and the responsibility to be truly amazing…

The Reunion - next weekend...

At the class of 19XX reunion, what would your report card look like..?

Are you an A Grade student, have you kept your promise, or have you let others conspire against you and hold you back..?

Have you used the gift of Life and the fulfilled your full potential…?

What excuses will you choose to share with the group..?

The Present – a gift…

If you came back from that reunion, what decisions would you take…?

What would you do today that would change your tomorrow…?

 

When will you start living the life you are truly qualified for…?

Who would you look for guidance from..?

Get out your Birth Certificate and check that you are qualified, take a copy and keep it with you as a reminder of the permission you have been given and the choice you already made that enabled you to be here.

 It’s time to become that for which you are already qualified...

Goldilocks gives Business Owners a Drum Lesson …

A Drummer is just someone who hangs around with Musicians – Anon..

Being a Rock Drummer and having played in various bands in pubs & clubs all over the UK – sticky carpets and stale beer dressing rooms are something of a speciality.  In a Drummers mind he has a number of jobs to complete whilst performing on stage;

• Looking good – stick twirling and catching

• Drum Solo – for at least 30 minutes

• Being Crazy – drummers are supposed to be a bit mad

• Dressing Up – the more bizarre the better

In everyone else’s mind, a Drummer has just one job – keeping time. 

If the Drummer and the Bass Player are tight the rest of the band will sound good – even making up for an average singer and dodgy keyboard player.

But how fast should a Drummer actually play…?

The pace of rock music can be measured in Beats Per Minute – BPM, and it is this pace that helps makes a piece of music sound so attractive and engaging. 

It is why we start tapping or clapping along to a certain piece – it just sounds right…

For example;

• Bryan Adams – The Summer of 69 – 139 BPM – LISTEN

• Die Toten Hosen – Tage wie diese – 97 BPM – LISTEN

If either of these songs were played at a much faster / slower rate, they would not be as attractive to the listener. Which one you like the best depends on your own taste and style…

The same principle applies in Business – each business has a pace that clients and prospects feel comfortable with. It will be different for every business, but once you find the correct pace, make sure you stick to it.

Pace shows up in how you do your marketing and selling, how you care for your clients and build a team spirit. It shows up in the experience people have working with you and for you, in the quality of the services or product you deliver, and the rate of growth and profitability you achieve.

For example, prospects have a “buying pattern” a pace or level of BPM, that they feel comfortable with. It is our job in business to match their “buying pattern” with a similar “sales pattern” – if we try and sell to them too quickly they will run away, if we leave it too long they will buy from somewhere else.

I know that it takes around 6 weeks for people to decide to work with me as their Coach. The start point may be that they connect on LinkedIn, buy a book, attend a Seminar, and as they explore the possibilities, on average after six weeks we begin working together. 

This is the “pace” of my market – if I attempt to go to fast, prospects don’t like it and they disappear. If I go too slow they get bored and never do anything.

Essentially we need to be in harmony with the rhythm of our market, building an attractive beat that engages and retains your clients. It doesn’t matter what beat you choose, so long as it is attractive to your clients and prospects.

We can take advice here from Goldilocks – the rhythm shouldn’t be too fast or too slow, it should be just right. Finding out what the appropriate pace is for your business is achieved by measuring your conversion rate – adapt the pace and see if it increases, if it does, keep doing it.

Sincerely yours, Adam…

The word Sincere is derived from the combination of two Latin words; Sine, meaning “without” and Sera meaning “wax”. It was used to describe the quality and reliability of marble statues in Roman times – if a statue was “sine cera” it was without wax which could have otherwise been used to cover imperfections, scratches or cavities. As the Scots would say, it was the “real Mackay” later to become the “real McCoy…”
 

Are you Sincere, or can’t I tell you from Adam…

In previous life, I was involved with the design, development and manufacture or weapons for the British Military. These included rifles, assault weapons, machine guns and cannon from 5.56 to 30mm calibre…

These weapons were designed to be reliable, accurate and efficient; the whole idea of a gun is that it should be more dangerous to the person stood in front of it than the one behind it. These weapons were made out of the highest grade alloys and composite materials, the dimensional tolerances were so tight that they had to be finished by hand; they were capable of firing at a rate of between 650 and 1,700 rounds per minute – that’s between 10 and 28 per second…

Now if you imagine 28 rounds travelling at 1000 m/s with a combined weight of 7kg hitting a target every second – you begin to see how tricky it can be to build a machine that can achieve this, without hurting the soldier operating it…

This performance comes at a price, and if you are ever in the market for a gun or any sort, I recommend you don’t buy Cheap.

Don’t know you from Adam…

One of the projects I was involved with involved the collection and destruction of captured or counterfeit weapons. The trick sometimes was to actually be able to tell the difference between the real guns and those that were “copies”…

In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan there is a town called Darra Adam Khel. This town is inhabited by Pashtuns, and is completely devoted to the manufacture of weapons and ordnance.

Although the machinery is old and out of date, and high grade alloys is not readily available, these workshops and “engineers” produce thousands of weapons ranging from pistols to anti-aircraft guns. All the weapons are copies of those in service with regular forces including the ubiquitous AK47, the M16 from the USA, and the SA80 from the UK.

When NATO forces capture weapons, including counterfeit ones, they have to be treated very carefully, not only can they be “booby trapped” but due to their poor quality they have to be destroyed.

Upon visual inspection the weapons made in Darra Adam Khel look exactly like the real ones, it is hard to tell the difference. One give away would usually be that the original manufacturers mark had been copied exactly onto a stamp, which when applied to the weapon meant that the text was in reverse. 

Detailed metallurgical and metrological examination would reveal that the materials were inferior and that the dimensions were out of specification too, but to the untrained eye they appeared identical.

In business we have the same challenge. If you are reading this then it is likely you are “sine cera” and the real McCoy, if you weren’t you wouldn’t have got this far…

But how do you educate your prospects that you are actually different from the others out there that simply imitate excellence, sell cheap and get away with it because at first look the differences cannot be seen..?

Shout about your excellence; tell people the things about you that you may take for granted, that you think they wouldn’t be interested in. List down the positive attributes that define and differentiate you and your business from the rest; why do you do what you do, how great you and your team are, the passion and dedication you apply to everything you do.

Then, send out the message to the world through blogs, videos, books and seminars. Get on stage and be world famous, become the face of your business and prove that; Sincerely, you are not from Adam…
