Man uses RADAR to locate the G Spot...

The G Spot is a mythical pleasure Zone...

The history bit first, in search of human pleasure...

The 17th Century Dutch Physician Regnier de Graaf's early work was further explored by the German Dr Ernest Grafenberg resulting in his 1950 paper appearing an International Journal - the "G Spot" entered popular culture in 1982 when Khan Ladas and Beverly Whipple published their findings...

In Business there is a mythical pleasure zone too; one that has proven to be as elusive to some as the one described by Dr Grafenberg...

It is the Spot where new clients are to be found - known as the Grin Spot; the only place where business owners and entrepreneurs are allowed to smile.

So how do we find this mythical entrepreneurs erogenous zone..?

In 2008 at the University of Cambridge in the UK, under the guidance of Professor Parvus Mentula a brilliant young student Petet Subridet published a seminal paper on the exact location of the business G Spot; clearly a Latin scholar...

Entitled "Fun with LoCA RADAR - finding the G Spot.." it gives specific and clear instructions regarding the LoCA - Law of Client Attraction, when it comes to mastering the G Spot..

Here is a synopsis of Petet's LoCA RADAR findings..

RADAR - is a prospect detection system which uses tactics and strategies to determine the range, altitude, direction, or speed of potential clients.

It works by sending out regular scheduled messages into the target market and through a complex feedback system, measures the responses and movement of the identified prospects as they move towards the G Spot.

The marketing RADAR screen looks much like any other, it involves a regular sweep of the Target Market to check for signatures and other evidence of prospect activity.

Rule 1 - the attention paid to the Target Market must be regular and consistent. The sweep of the strategies needs to be scheduled ahead and maintained.

On the example below I have identified seven cascading and interlinked strategies that we use in our business to attract clients - of course yours may be different, but the same principle applies.

Rule 2 - the "ease of engagement" must be less on the outer strategies than the inner ones, so should the cost of participation and time investment required on behalf of the prospect. We need to make it easy, cheap and simple to start to engage with you.

How it works...

Once the LoCA RADAR is operating the feedback we receive will show us which prospects are registering and engaging with the different Strategies. Our job is to encourage our prospects to progress through the interlocking rings and arrive eventually at the the central G Spot..

As you can see there is a high level of engagement on this LoCA RADAR with our LinkedIN and Follow Blog strategies - less so with the Workshop and Meeting strategies.

We need a range of cascading strategies to attract Clients. Whilst each strategy may be independent of the others, there must be a flow or path that prospects can be encouraged to take as they approach the G Spot Target.

This is because Marketing is a filtering and fermentation process; there will be a "conversion rate" between each level..

For every 100 people on LinkedIn for example - we may only get 30% who proceed to the next level and follow our Blog, and of that 30% only 40% buy a book and so on...

As the process continues, eventually some will attend workshops or eventually begin to work with us on a Program - whether it is 1:1 with Business Owners and Entrepreneurs, or working with a CEO and their Teams in global companies..

Rule 3 - not all prospects who register on the LoCA RADAR will be attracted to the G Spot with you. That is why you will need to continuously add to your database in order to maintain growth. Measure the conversion rate at each level so you can predict the rate of client acquisition.

Rule 4 - prospects need regular contact, as you can see on the screen they begin to fade and go cold after the marketing sweep - keep your prospects warm...

And Finally...

When your prospects finally get close to your G Spot - make sure you make it easy and simple for them to buy from you - ABC - Always Be Closing...

Enjoy your Marketing as you never have before...

What are you Worrying about..?

Do you Worry about Atomic Bombs dropping on you...?

On 23rd January 1961 two Mk 39 Mod 2 Hydrogen Bombs, each being 260 times more powerful than the device dropped on Hiroshima, were "accidentally" dropped from a B-52G Bomber whilst flying over Goldsboro, North Carolina in the USA..

If one of these bombs had exploded it would have yielded 3.8 Megatons and have a 100% kill zone of approximately 1000 sq miles. To be clear, this single bomb was more powerful than the combined yield of all munitions, TNT, Gunpowder and conventional Bombs ever used in the history of the world - including the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki...

The one Bomb fell to earth and simply hit the ground - burying itself 200 ft into the ground. It was impossible to get it out so it was simply covered with concrete. The other one, however, deployed it's parachute and three of the four arming mechanisms activated; it simply needed a single low voltage switch to be activated to detonate the bomb.

Fortunately this very low-tech device failed and the bomb "safely" parachuted to the ground and was recovered - see picture...

This information was "supressed" by the US Military until under the freedom of information act, journalist Eric Schlosser obtained the declasssified 1969 dossier regarding the incident and published the contents in his 2013 Book - Command & Control.

Now...

That evening the people of Greensboro, and everyone else that lived with the 1000 sq mile "kill zone", had no idea that in a few hours they would all be within a whisker of instant death. So were the good people of North Carolina worried about this eventuality...?

Of course not, they were still celebrating JFK being sworn in as President on Saturday the 21st January, or discussing the Santa Maria Hijacking that happened earlier in the day. They were more likely to be worrying about their jobs, relationships and money, than the risk of being vapourised in a nuclear fireball...

Their worries and fears on that day would have been based on the news they had available to them - we only worry about that which we have information; and are blessed with the additional gifts of prevarication and exasperation to make things worse.

We may Fear that about which we know nothing, but worry tends to be based more on tangible evidence - Fear may be irrational, but Worry is somehow more logical.

Worrying is just Praying for what you don't want...

In Business and in Life, it is always the unexpected that trips us up or causes us the greatest challenges and frustrations - and yet it is rarely these catastrophic occurrences and the associated consequences, that are the focus of our worrying.

So the lesson...?

Whatever you are worrying about - it is likely to be largely irrelevant - so Stop It...!

Worry holds us back, it can be debilitating - I remember my Mom used to tell me that nothing is ever as bad as we worry it will be; and she is right...

If you really want to worry about something, consider that the Tsar Nuclear Bomb built by the Russians in the cold war has a yield of 60 Megatons; or 15 times the power of the Mk 39 Bombs described above - these beauties have a "kill zone" of around 11,000 sq miles and would just about wipe out the Netherlands in one go...

That was in 1961 too - imagine what weapons are available now that we could worry about if we actually knew about them; don't start me off on Area 51...

People who worry live in the negative future they create in their minds, people with anxiety are living in the past and allowing their history to unfortunately repeat itself..

We need to live in the present - the here and now; this is where love, purpose and passion all flourish. Tomorrow is promised to no one, today is a gift - that is why it is called the present.

Stop worrying and start living...

AND  check out this LINK to see how much damage Nuclear Weapons can actually do - but don't worry about it...

First I was afraid, I was Tetrified...

The Tetris Effect - we are all being Tetrified...?

Devoting so much time and attention to a given activity or situation that it dominates your thought patterns and actions is known as the Tetris Effect.

The syndrome is derived from symptoms that avid players of the Video Game Tetris would display in their everyday lives - thinking about everything in terms of patterns and coloured blocks fitting together.

They become hypnotised by the imagery, fabric and rules of the game so it effectively becomes the filter through which they perceive the world, and dictates their behaviour accordingly.

That which we give focus and attention to will effectively control and influence our intentions, behaviours and results.

How does this show up...?

Being Petrified literally means to affect someone so that they are unable to move or think independently; Tetrified is what happens when our voluntary attention and focus does the same thing to us. We are all under hypnosis, we can, however, choose by what...

Imagine that someone reads the daily Newspaper, listens to ITV's This Morning or Fox TV News, watches only X Factor, Judge Judy and Jeremy Kyle and only circulates with other like minded people.

Now imagine that someone else reads a mix of fiction, biographies and both business and personal development books, blogs and articles. Their news finds them from a variety of sources including RT, Aljazeera and the BBC. They circulate with a variety of people from different cultures backgrounds and all social and economic groups; they write about their experiences and ideas, not what they are watching on TV...

Given that we are all effectively hypnotised by our surroundings; which one of these two people would you expect to be more ambitious, knowledgeable and successful..?

My formula for Results is;

Environment x Behaviour = Results

In order to change our Results, we need to change the contributory factors, and in order to change our Behaviour we need to choose our Environment. The message here is that we may have to change the source of our Hypnosis before we can affect our behaviours.

How to Change; Life Lessons from Gloria Gaynor...

Gloria Gaynor teaches us that whilst;

"At first I was afraid I was petrified, kept thinking I could never live without you by my side...."

She grew strong and learned how to get along...

We all need to grow strong and learn how to get along - I remember sitting in a damp bedsit listening to "Life from a Window" by the Jam on a C90 Cassette and thinking that I needed to change the view from my window - and making the decision to become someone I and those around me would be proud of. This journey continues...

I also remember the hate, fear and anger of that teenager and this song still reminds of what could have been if I hadn't done something...
Changing our environment simply means to surround ourselves with situations, people and information that inspires, motivates and teaches better quality behaviours that will deliver the Results we deserve...
Here's a checklist to get you started - sense the FEAR as you progress. FEAR is simply the minds way of keeping you locked within your comfort zone, which may not be serving you...

1. Friends - Only positive, ambitious, broad minded and intelligent allowed.
2. Books - Become a reader, be Amazons best customer.
3. TV - Stop It, just Stop It.
4. Travel - Travel only where they don't speak your language.
5. Risk - The biggest Risk is doing nothing.
6. Relationships - Make sure you have one for life's journey.
7. Family - You can't choose 'em but you can avoid 'em if necessary.
8. Plan - Write down your future and go for it.

So prepare to be Tetrified by what you choose, not what is imposed; make sure  you take the lessons of Gloria Gaynor with you as you grow strong and learn how to get along...

And above all remember - Results Rules OK

Getting your Authentic message out there...

The Human brain is an incredible piece of equipment...

Most people have one, it comes "free issue" when we are born - they may not use it to its full potential all the time but I am assured that it is there all the same.

Even I have one and, although it is not as advanced as my wife's (so Lynn tells me...), it can still do some pretty amazing things...

One of the key aspects that our Brains enable us to do is learn about the world in which we live; in fact we have such a thirst for knowledge that we are unable to cope with the vacuum that "not knowing" creates.

When we have this vacuum created in our mind we are compelled to fill it with a "knowing", whether it is true or not is another thing. This can be really dangerous in business where reputations can be either built or demolished on the basis of rumour...

The three main components of knowledge are;
  • Evidence
  • Beliefs
  • Facts
The challenge we face is the sequence in which the components are processed and the implications it has for our business. We need people to base their opinions on evidence, where possible, evidence that we present to them in the form of Products, Services, Marketing, Social Media and Reputation...

So the knowledge that people have about our business should be;

1. Evidence based -The component sequence here is;

Evidence > Facts > Belief

However, this is not always the case...

Regularly, the "knowledge" that people have is;

2. Assumption based - made up to fill the vacuum, the sequence being;

Belief > Evidence > Fact

These assumptions are created to fill the vacuum that lack of other evidence creates - we are compelled to make them in order to fill the space that otherwise not knowing creates.

In the extreme - these form Conspiracy Theories where selected evidence is found to support a "belief" and subsequently confirm a chosen fact.

By this method we can "prove" that we never went to the Moon, that 9/11 was an inside job and that the Philadelphia experiment resulted in an Airliner being shot down...

Just for fun - Check out Top Conspiracy theories HERE.

So how does this affect us in business...?

Simple - what people don't know, they will make up...

To maintain your brand and reputation you have to consistently communicate. We have to publish and promote the Evidence that we want people to base their Facts and Beliefs upon.

I recall one of my favourite Clients telling me that he wasn't sure about having a website for his business as the internet was "unproven technology, and wouldn't catch on..."

Well it may be unproven, but is has definately caught on - so how do you we make sure that people base their knowledge on Evidence not Beliefs..?

Answer - we must generate the Evidence and circulate it...

Here is a simple check list to get started...

1. Website - make sure it is full of relevant content, updated regularly and represents your business exactly as you want it. Example

2. Social Media - get busy. Your Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+ accounts must be updated with relevant content on a daily basis.

3. Blogging - get your message and Evidence out to the world. A weekly Blog of between 500 and 1000 words (this one is 733..) and circulated to you network is powerful.

4. Get on Stage - run events and get on stage. Even if you are a Plumber, Driving Instructor or Accountant getting on stage will transform your reputation.

5. Publish - paperbacks, hardbacks and Ebooks. Sell them and give them away to tell your story to a wider audience. Example

6. Video - have a YouTube Channel and let the world see you, your business and your passion come to life. Example

7. Testimonials - get them from every client you work with and circulate them at every opportunity; they say more about you than you ever can.

8. Rockstar - see previous Blog - be so great and unique at what you do that you stand out from the crowd and develop a reputation that carries you forwards. LINK

Rockstars Beat Up Status Quo...

Anyone for Mediocrity...?

In every business sector, there is an Average level of performance. An accepted norm or benchmark by which the success of individuals is measured and the performance of the sector is defined...

The picture of the Results that professionals achieve can generally be plotted on a Bell Curve. Applies to Sales, Recognition, Skills etc...

As you can see if we plot the Results that are achieved in any sector against the number of people achieving them a recognised pattern emerges.

The Graph can be split into three key areas...

Zone 1 - this is known as the Bloody Awful Zone and is to be avoided. Here live the stragglers, the hopeful and the underachievers.

Their main function is to make those in Zone 2 feel relatively successful.

Zone 2 - Mediocrity. if we were being kind here we would call this Zone "average" or "median". In reality this is where most people and businesses actually sit - in comfortable Mediocrity. This is the Status Quo that defines the sector.

They tolerate this for two main reasons;
  1. The industry "norms" suggest that this is about as good as it gets in this business and they all collude with each other at conference or on Face Book and congratulate each other for continually achieving nothing of note.
  2. It's comfortable here. Everyone likes you because you make others feel as if they are doing OK too; you don't stand out or make them feel jealous of you getting better results than they have...

Zone 3 - Rockstar.These are the ones that break the rules, become famous, make more money and success or make a greater contribution.

They are few in number and may be ridiculed by the Mediocre and the Bloody Awful; success leaves a shadow in which those less worthy feel the chill of disappointment and jealousy. These are the Rockstars that Beat Up the Status Quo; they show what is possible and challenge the assumptions of an entire sector.

Everyone has the opportunity to achieve Rock Star status - if you have the ability, you also have a responsibility to yourself and those around you. By shining bright you give others permission to do the same, you will define yourself in your sector and make better things possible for everyone.

Becoming a Rock Star means you will have to be remarkable, be different, charge more, deliver more, write books, be on TV, become well known and start wearing leather trousers; well perhaps not the leather.

To get started you simply have to decide to be one and not tolerate Mediocrity anymore, decide that just because others are doing it, you don't have to; become the maverick, dare to challenge the Status Quo, work your little socks off and take the risk of becoming truly amazing

You may not be popular - but we are not in the business of creating Pop Stars, we are in the business of creating Rock Stars...

Is Mr Spock killing your Business...?

Mr Spock was a Vulcan - not a large Delta Winged bomber from the Cold War era - but the Logical Science Officer on the crew of the Enterprise in Star Trek..

His approach to life was to always look for the "logical" explanation rather than the "emotional" or illogical  responses of the Human captain James T Kirk under whom he served.

Are you letting a Vulcan run your business..?

The challenge to all of us in business is that people do not buy logically, they buy emotionally - doesn't matter who you are selling to, there will always be an emotional context to the purchasing decision..

If you are unsure of how "illogical" we all are in reality, here are a few examples;

The Kardashians - enough said...! Interesting to note that Spock and Kirk were always surprised by the Cardassians too..

Why - do we always press the button on the TV remote harder if the batteries have started to fail..?

Pressing - the button at a pedestrian crossing several times in an attempt to hurry the process up, trust me, itr makes no difference...

Ferrari - no logic here, in fact a totally different organ is used in the decision making of males of the species in this regard...

Stilettos - ladies, you are not immune from illogical behaviour, and we should include Chanel, Gucci and Jimmy Choo here too.

Rolex - a watch is simply "a single function gadget" that tells the time, and they are available from £2.50 at every filling station...

Children - having children is so illogical it should come with an official health warning and certificate of insanity. I have two of the best so am qualified to comment...

So in a world of pure logic, we would have no Kardashians, Ferarris, Stilettos or Rolex and every button we press would work instantly, and we would have no children to worry about.

OK so maybe we could do without the Kardashians, but who wants to live in a world without Ferrari, Jimmy Choo and Rolex...?

Who wants to live in a world without children..? well OK maybe other peoples...

The most important decisions in our lives are made emotionally, marriage for example;

We have a mixed marriage - Lynn is a woman and I am a man. When we first met 34 years ago, it wasn't logic that attracted us to each other; I didn't ask for testimonials from previous acquaintances, or a guarantee of results. Back to the Ferrari decision making system...

Logically we would take the bus to the same job for 40 years, buy recycled shoes from the charity shop and get our watch from the petrol station. Ladies would wear comfortable shoes during short term mutually beneficial relationships during which children would be unnecessary.

So Why...

Do business owners, executives & sales people treat their prospects, clients and teams as if they were Vulcans..?

In Metz there is a little street in the old part of the town that has about 6 cafes and restaurants all close to each other. They are all serving pizza, pasta and classic Italian coffees and ice creams.

The prices are similar and the menus are broadly the same, but there is always one of them that is full and you have to either book or wait for a table.

But which one ...?

At one, when the owner heard our accents he assumed that we were "just tourists" and instructed the waiter to get us out quickly to free up the table - as we are actually locals we know the waiter, he is a good friend of Jon our son, so he told us this and apologised in advance.

At the San Lorenzo, on another occasion, our accent was spotted and the owner came over to us to welcome us, asking where we came from and how our journey was - he knew our home town in the UK and, even supports Manchester United...

He introduced us to his younger brother who would be our waiter for the evening and we were treated to a fabulous evening of great food and friendly service.

Of course it wasn't just Lynn and I that received this service, everyone had the same treatment, there were kisses on cheeks, smiles, jokes and a warmth that made everyone feel special and welcome.

When our family came to visit and we fancied an evening out where do you think we went...?

When you visit Metz on the way to the Mediterranean for your holidays and you want a stop over and an evening out - where will you be tempted to try..?

That's right - Restaurant San Lorenzo 8, Rue de Pont, 57000 Metz.

So build some emotional engagement into your business, don't Vulcanise it; remember people buy emotionally first and then justify logically afterwards.

If there is no emotional engagement then the only differentiators you have will be price - and you will encourage people to always go for the cheapest option.

Then, who knows who will spread the word about you without you knowing - Restaurant San Lorenzo has no idea that I am writing about them. Could it be good for their business..?

Absolutely..!

And finally remember - People do not buy on price unless you let them...

Which Customer is the most Important..?

What is the definition of a Customer…?

Simple question that most people respond...

any person who spends money with my business…”

...or something very similar…

How about if we changed the definition of a Customer to;

“any person who adds value to my business…”

This would clearly include those people who spend money, but should also include the following;

Prospects - people who have never bought from you, or connected with you. You can build a following and a network by giving value and ideas to everyone, they will become your unpaid marketing team, globally...

Clients who bought from you in the past – they can still add value by introducing you, referring you and saying great things about you in the pub or on social media sites. Never let a Client lose positive contact with you...

Your Team – they define your offering, service levels and profits. They add huge value, and can either build or sabotage your reputation with what they say to their friends and family.

Suppliers – always play nice. Suppliers can and should be a source of introductions and referrals. They will spread good news about you and also bad news if you don’t treat them right e.g Pay them on time...

Yourself – you are a customer of your business; Is your business treating you well..? Do you get paid on time, are you having fun, is it fulfilling your dreams and expectations..? Do you sometimes feel like changing suppliers..?

Your Family – they probably deserve better service too. Are they seeing you enough when you’re not tired and irritable ?, remember,they are the reason you are in business in the first place; look after them well.

So if we recognise that a Customer is simply someone who adds value to your business, then we may need to adjust your customer care program.

In my experience plenty of businesses have solid Paying Customer service policies and procedures; I have met very few that have true Add Value Customer Service programs.

Test this out – if your partner / husband / wife is truly a “customer” of your business, ask them this simple question;

"On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being Rubbish and 10 being Amazing, how would you rate the effect the business is having on our relationship…?"

This is probably the best Customer Survey you can undertake - brace yourself...

But most of all.

YOU ...  are your most important Customer;  But for you to get the great service you deserve from your business, everyone else needs to get great service first…

If you were employed by someone else, would you tolerate the hours, money, stress and “excitement” you currently experience..?

 Is your Business serving it's most imprtant Customer well enough...?

Your Results Rules OK plan to fix it...
  1. Figure out who your Customers actually are...
  2. Define what they deserve and compare it to reality...
  3. Fix it and systemise it...
  4. Train it and delegate it...
  5. Buy Champagne...
  6. Take your partner to the Bahamas...
  7. Repeat steps 5 & 6...
  8. Buy a Ferrari & enjoy the ride...
PS - With special thanks to Joseann in Florida for the reminder - of course, the Environment is equally important as a customre. If we don't look after our Planet, how can it look after us...
